The Hotchkiss School Science Department is seeking an instructor in Physics and Robotics for a 1-year position during the 17-18 school year.
The School is eager to consider applications from groups traditionally underrepresented in independent school communities.
The instructor will teach a combination of three classes in robotics and Advanced Placement physics, and also supervise a co-curricular robotics team. In addition, the successful candidate will contribute to the program development for the School's EFX Lab, a new engineering and fabrication space in the Griswold Science Building. Participation in the School’s community life through service in our residential, advising and co-curricular programs is expected. The instructor will work with the Science Faculty to develop and refine curricula, assessments, and pedagogy at the departmental level.
A bachelor’s degree in physics or engineering and experience with robotics is required. Master's degree preferred. Previous teaching, tutoring, or work experience in youth programs is desirable, as is technical proficiency with CNC machines, open-source 3D drawing software, microcontrollers, and other maker or fabrication technologies.
