The departments of Electrical and Computer Engineering (ECE) and Mechanical and Industrial (MIE) Engineering at the New Jersey Institute of Technology (NJIT) invite applications from outstanding individuals for tenure track assistant professor faculty positions with primary focus on robotics. NJIT has two position openings, one in each one of the two departments, ECE and MIE. The anticipated start date is August 2018. Successful candidates are likely to have a primary appointment in one department, and a secondary appointment in the other. Research areas of interest include: Control and embedded systems for robotics and automation, industrial robotics and robots for manufacturing, collaborative robotics, integrated human robotics (e.g., assistive and wearable robotics), robot perception and sensing, micro-robots, soft robotics, and autonomous vehicles.

The successful candidate is expected to attract funding to develop and sustain active sponsored research programs, teach core undergraduate and graduate courses, and develop new courses related to his/her research expertise.

Applicants must have earned a Ph.D. degree in a pertinent discipline and have a proven record of research and teaching. We seek candidates with a demonstrated ability to conduct research at the highest level, and with a commitment to outstanding teaching and mentoring of students.
Professional Engineer license. At the university's discretion the education and experience prerequisites may be excepted where the candidate can demonstrate to the satisfaction of the university an equivalent combination of education and experience specifically preparing the candidate for success in the position.
