Senior Robotics Engineer, National Robotics Engineering Center (NREC)-2004042
The National Robotics Engineering Center at Carnegie Mellon University is looking for candidates for a Senior Robotics Engineer position. The candidates are expected to have advanced robotics, computer science, or engineering education, superior problem solving skills, rigorous software development experience, and independent decision-making ability. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, designing and implementing (parts of) complex software systems with a particular focus on motion and path planning, single and multi-robot coverage planning, and scheduling. Additionally, a Senior Robotics Engineer is expected to lead and supervise several (junior) engineers.
Master's degree in computer science and/or robotics or equivalent experience required; Ph.D. in those areas is a plus
At least 3 years of engineering or engineering design process experience
5+ years of hands-on C/C++ programming
Rigorous software engineering
Working in a team setting with strict deadlines
Preferably a lead role in a software development project
Modern software version control systems (e.g., git, mercurial, etc.)
Well-roundedness in the other leading edge CS and robotics areas is a plus
Able to manage personal schedule to accommodate work demands
Willing to follow organizational software standards
Willing to travel as project needs dictate
Willing to work long hours as project needs dictate
